The Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx) is delighted to announce that the Third International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding will be held in The Hague, Netherlands, from 19th- 21st June 2024, convened in partnership with the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies at Leiden University. More information on the conference is available at https://www.environmentalpeacebuilding.org/conferences/3rd-international-conference-on-environmental-peacebuilding/.

Leading up to the conference, The Path to The Hague will engage practitioners, researchers, decision-makers, students, and organizations from around the globe on environmental peacebuilding issues. The Path to The Hague is an inclusive and consultative process to increase the number and diversity of voices engaged in environmental peacebuilding.  This two-pronged process includes:

1) A series of regional, national, and thematic events engaging people around the world on environmental peacebuilding issues relevant to their communities. The events will be held from May 2023 through March 2024, and will largely be virtual, hybrid, and in-person.  The goal of this series of events is to catalyze conversations on environmental peacebuilding and build momentum for the conference by:

  • Highlighting themes for consideration at the Conference
  • Identifying promising approaches, experiences, and insights that might be of interest to others
  • Identifying potential speakers who can elevate and diversify the Conference

For information on hosting or otherwise convening an event as part of the Path to The Hague, please download the Call for Applications here. The online application form is available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScX8ZCUXhJo2dcZtzdnwwgqSLmziS8xa4ESkPTTQvzmNYHKrw/viewform.

EnPAx and the Conference Organizing Committee will host an informational meeting about the event series with prospective host institutions.

2) The Path to the Hague will also feature a series of flagship initiatives that meaningfully advance the field of environmental peacebuilding. The initiatives will be developed by the Association and partners, and will be showcased at the conference. More information about the initiatives will be available on the conference website as they take form.
